Our Story

Our company was built around providing service to underserved communities. Our first operation was in the farming community of Delano, CA in 1981. In joining the community, we witnessed patients’ challenges in accessing appropriate care and affordable medications. During this time, we worked with patients to navigate the healthcare system for resources to offset out-of-pocket costs. From these struggles, many of our health initiatives and clinical programs were designed. Programs such as our Transitional Care Program were created to address specific problems faced by our patients.

Today, we continue to innovate and expand services. We believe that all patients deserve excellent care, no matter their income. Our name, Avina, pays tribute to the grape vines that are tended by the community where we started these projects and to the people who inspire us to continue our innovation.
